Basic Pisol Shooting
Course Goal
To teach the basic knowledge, skills and attitude necessary for owning and using a pistol safely.
This course covers:
1. Pistol Knowledge and Safe Gun Handling
2. Ammunition Knowledge and the Fundamentals of Pistol Shooting
3. Shooting Positions and Shooting Qualifications. Live fire from 10, 15, 20 feet
4. Scoring Targets, and Selecting and Maintaining Your Pistol
This is a full 8 hour course.
Required Materials
- Firearm (semi-auto or /revoler) in good, serviceable condition
- If it is a Semi-Automatic Pistol bring at least 2 magazines and an outside the waistband holster.
- If it is a Double Action Revolver at least 1 speed loader, or speed strip and an outside waistband holster.
- Live ammunition (suggest 100 rounds of factory ammunition, objectives could be met with a bare minimum of 40 rounds. The vast majority of students will require more than the minimum).
- Eye and hearing protection.
- Appropriate clothing for a firing range (please, no low or open shirts or blouses, no open toed shoes, flip flops, etc. Bring a ball cap). The goal is to keep hot flying brass from landing on your skin.
- Notebook, pen and or pencil, highlighters.
- Cleaning equipment.
NOTE: If you are planning on using one of our guns, bring $15 additional usage fee. We provide the gun, magazines and a holster. Guns are limited so be aware this is on a first come first serve bases
