North Carolina Concealed Carry

This course is geared for all levels of firearms experience.  The subjects covered in this class are:

1. Different types of handguns and handgun actions
2. How to safely handle handguns
3. Proper ammunition to use for your intended purpose
4. Proper stances and the application for each
5. Maintenance of your handgun
6. Federal, State, local laws regarding transportation and the purchase of a firearm
7. How to apply for your Concealed Carry Handgun Permit
8. What handgun is best for your application
9. What the law says about where you can and cannot carry concealed
10. Use of deadly force in a self-defense situation
11. What to do after a self-defense shooting

All of this knowledge is measured by a written test and a range proficiency course firing a minimum of  40 rounds of ammunition from the 3, 5, and 7 yard lines.

Due to the different individual state laws, this is not an NRA -approved course. This course is approved by the North Carolina Justice Academy to apply for a concealed carry permit.

1. You must be a responsible adult (age 18 or above – must be 21 or older to apply )
2. You must not be prohibited by local, state or federal law from owning or possessing firearms and ammunition.
3. You must not be under the influence of alcohol, narcotics or any substance which would be considered to hinder your judgement, mental capacity, coherency or alertness (prescription or otherwise) at the time of, or throughout the class
4. You must exhibit and demonstrate that you can handle firearms safely  per the instruction that you will receive prior to going to the range.

NOTE: Unsafe behavior with a firearm will not be tolerated and will be grounds for automatic dismissal without refund !

If you are using your own handgun, it must be: 

1.  In good, serviceable condition
2. Cleaned prior to class
3. If it is a Semi-Automatic Pistol bring at least 2 magazines and an outside the waistband holster.
4. If it is a Double Action Revolver at least 1 speed loader, or speed strip and an outside waistband holster.
5. At least 50 rounds of target ammunition (no hand loaded ammunition please), we suggest 100 rounds.  If you are using our guns, you will need to bring 9mm factory target ammunition.
6. Notebook, pen and/or pencil, highlighters.
7. Owners manual for your handgun or instructions on how to field strip your handgun.
8. Cleaning kit for your handgun
9. Eye and ear protection
10. Appropriate clothing for a firing range (please, no low or open shirts or blouses, no open toed shoes, flip flops, etc.  Bring a ball cap. The goal is to keep hot flying brass from landing on your skin.

NOTE: If you are planning on using one of our guns, bring $15 additional for the usage fee.  We provide the gun, magazines and a holster.

Guns are limited so be aware this is on a first come first serve bases.

The minimum requirement is 8 hours of classroom instruction plus range time.  Plan on all day.  Our goal is to be finished by 6 pm, but that is a goal and not a promise.  Because it is objective based, we may end up going slightly longer to meet the objectives.
